Welcome to the next evolution of BM. I have a lot of stuff to fix, but whatever. I'll update this topic as I think of stuff to mention.

List of Changes
- The Toilet is now Mature Chat
- The Void has been merged with General Chat
- Marketplace and Requests merged into Open Market

Feel free to make suggestions. I already know I need to make sticky topics more obvious and make the post page less chaotic. And I'll install a portal and cash mod soon, but it took me an hour to update the site so I'm not doing it right now.

Edit: I changed all the "sticky" topics to "announcement" topics so it's easier to see the difference.

Things I've noticed so far.

Not really a bug/glitch, but people... with the change, we lost the auto-sig-removal on the threads. So please manually turn off your sig when posting in the gallery/sotw/etc.

Also, we have lost the ability to center things in our signatures.

EDIT: Ewww... apparently if someone submits a post while I'm making a post, when I try to submit mine, it shows the post first incase I wish to edit my post... I can see the benefit in that, but it could get rather annoying on spammy topics on a busy day. lol

Well, I'm going to be completely honest with you Drivel and say I don't much like it ...

First off, it is very irritating having the avatars on the right hand side ... the page just looks cluttered and it's doing my eyes in looking at it. I don't like the background much, that also confuses my eyes, and I also loved it being called the Void and the Toilet

I mean, ok, it looks a lot more professional, although it looked lovely and friendly before ... now it just hurts my eyes and lacks any soul to it

The biggest problem I have with it are in the topics themselves. Unless you write a lot, it just looks a mess, what with this tiny area of text, and these huge signature blocks. My signature block looks uttery buggered up, but I won't complain about that 'coz I can change it. Looking through, it's hard to see who's actually posting, unless you look to the right at the avatar and such, and it just seems inconveniant. Those pixel thin blue lines separating the areas look rather ... uncomfortable.

In the gallery, it is hard to define which is the image requesting comments. It doesn't seem like a 'graphics' forum ... surely the entire point is to make the posts clear. It doens't need to be so complicated, as it appears to be now, what's wrong with a nice clean, simple looking layout that shows off the graphics people are submitting? ... Before, you had the right balance, people could admire the works being submitted and the forum at the same time. Now the forum appears to be giving the graphics a kick up the arse and telling them to move over. In fact, it looks like a gaming forum now It feels like BM has lost it's very purpose

I don't mean to be a major grinch or anything ... but can there please be an option to change the layout back to how it was in our profiles? Because I don't think I can ever get used to this layout ...

I don't see how those problems can easily be changed ... although, if you know, feel free to actually explain it rather than making me out to be an idiot, thank you very much. lol

I've looked through the user control panel, and I can't see anything that would change the things that I'm having difficulties accepting. I'm merely saying it's unnecesarily complicated looking.

It is a bit muddled for my tastes. And, I agree on the blue lines looking uncomfortable in the posts.

I don't really like the avatars on the right. It might be something I can get used to, and it might remain something I don't like.

There's definitely going to be a period of touching up, just as there was when I released Fuga. I'm still in the process of touching things up, actually. So, rating the new BM now might be a little premature. Visually though, it's not as appealing to me as before. I do like the header, though. And of course, the convenience of some of the phpbb3 features.

I think if you shortened the width a bit, driv, it'd make it a lot more neat and easier to spot things. Doesn't have to be the same width as Fuga, but closer to it would be cool. Also, add a larger spacer between posts, so you can really define each user's post. Would look much better.

Errm. Its pretty sweet, but where's the portal page?

Anyway, the stuff on the right needs to be on the left. I think thats the biggest thing to change. Also, the void and the toilet MUST come back!!

So I think to make stuff good, put the avatars and stuff on the left, and the void and toilet back.

Sorry if its a bit blunt, its the morning, and I don't feel like not being blunt

I think I'm going to have to agree with ermine on this one, the old layout was pretty good, the front page system was awesome, and the posts looked nice and tidy.

I mean, if you'd simply updated the look of the forum, and added a few of the newer changes.. then it would have been swell, but it seems like mostly you've fixed what wasn't broke..

buuut.. if this is going to stay mostly how it is, then I can I at least request the names going on top of the avatar again? I liked having my avatar designed to it joined up in nicely with my rank bar.

edit (post, posting analysis):
the blue line in the post looking uncomfortable is more a problem to do with the user's settings, I mean.. my profile theme is a nice dull monotone in most places, and it works well with the blue and white. whereas more colourful theme seem to be clashing more.

#1 - I don't mean to be harsh, but the design team was started over a year ago and I received no help so I had to do everything myself.
#2 - phpBB2 will be obsolete later this year so I had no choice but to update the forum to phpBB3, which uses a different template system so it required a completely new theme.
#3 - I've complained in the design lounge, shoutbox, and various other threads about how complicated the new template system is, what I never posted is that a few weeks ago I gave up and reskinned the default "prosilver" theme.

I made this in a few weeks with no help, give me a break. I'm glad most people are liking it.

- I know the "new reply was posted" thing is probably annoying, but it's an option so I can turn it off if it gets too bad.
- The profile stuff can easily be moved to the left, but I think we should give it some time.
- I already said the portal page will be coming soon.

Actually, I quite like it. The new design seems quite fresh, although the post boxes do seem somewhat cluttered. As for the avatar on the right that doesn't bother me. I suppose though it's mostly just my perception of change and that it's the only constant in life so roll with it and adapt. I could easily get used to this.

EDIT: I don't know if you care or not but it seems to be including Spam topic posts in post counts. Perhaps that was intentional even. Just thought I'd make mention of it.

Still another EDIT: It tells me at what time I joined the forum! EPIC! I joined at 11:40am! I had no idea!

And I think I see bots...

I didn't know if there was a "disable post count" mod for phpBB3, and The Void was pretty redundant to begin with, so I just merged it and resynced the post counts.

I may be able to clean up the post boxes by changing the line colors and maybe changing the post title color.

Ignore the bots, they've always been here, but phpBB3 allows you to easily see them.

As for the profile stuff, if it can be moved, AWESOME.
And why was the toilet renamed? I think it was pretty cool as the toilet.

Everything else is uber, or able-to-be-lived-with, but just the toilet is bugging me now.

EDIT: And, is there still an option to change themes? (Not that there is any more now that we've changed to phpbb3)
EDIT2: I forgot to mention the bananas. They're pretty darn sweet! It also fits with out name. I wonder if it can be like antialiased.

I don't mind the colours. The layout could use a bit of tweaking though.

I don't mind the blue lines, but I think they're ill-placed. When I see them, I feel like they should be seperating the individual posts, and not the sigs.
If you used the lines to divide the posts, I think it would be far less cluttered looking.

The profile info on the right doesn't bother me, but it will definately take some getting used to.
